Back to basics
This week has been not just a week where the World Cup was prominent but also the workload in our factory.
Over the last couple of months, the workload and orders from existing and new customers have increased considerably.
As per previous postings, we have employed more people already to handle the extra workload. Sometimes, as an MD it is good to get back to the nitty gritty of making ceramics and finishing a component. This morning I was doing just that, it was a very challenging precise assembly job, between this and answering questions from the office staff about quotes and orders it was a very satisfying experience. The finished article was admired by a visitor to our factory and he was clearly impressed that the whole component was manufactured in our factory from the ground material to the finished product. He mentioned that it was nice to see that something like that can still be produced in the UK from scratch, so are we and we a proud being able to do so.
Sunday is the big match between England vs Germany

World Cup fever and production
This week has been a very busy week; we have been busy in the factory with various stages of production of several ceramics. With the economic downturn we have noticed that companies will hold less stock and place orders when and if needed. This brings several challenges, not just to the factory staff but also our office staff. As we are one of the last manufacturers in the UK producing an extensive range of industrial ceramics in house, we are always proud to be able to give the customer an answer on material, stock, tooling and lead time as part of the order process. Our customers are more than welcome to visit our factory, to get a feel of the production process. As a small family company, we are flexible towards customers’ demands and lead-times and we stride to deliver UK manufactured ceramic products for use worldwide. We should not forget the World Cup of course and as usual, we organised the famous Ceramic Substrates sweepstakes. The number of teams will go in a bag to be drawn out, and countries assigned to the numbers. Some people were a bit down with the country they had as their World Cup winner. However, after some of the games in the last week, things might turn and we could have an unexpected winner.

Isle of Wight festival
This week has been a week where the Isle of Wight transforms from a pretty quiet place to a vibrant all singing and literally all dancing Island.
The Isle of Wight festival has grown over the last few years to be the place to go to get away from it all, including the mainland.
Most of us will be attending, and as with the last few years the weather gods have been kind with some good old sunny weather.
All of us will be back at work tomorrow morning fresh as a summer daisy .)

Expanding workforce
Over the past year, the economy has been challenging for all of us in manufacturing not only here in the UK but also internationally.
We have been working very hard on maintaining, expanding our current and future customer base with new, and the long-standing services we offer.
Although the majority of our services are not new to us, some of our customers were unaware of our complete range of ceramics and products that we can offer. With our new refreshed website, customers are finding it easier to locate and contact us regarding ceramics. Due to our rapid expanding customer base and products, we have already taken steps forward this year, investing in CNC machines and Grinders and employing two new members to our team. In the current economic climate, we are very pleased to offer employment especially where there is a high percentage of unemployment on the Island. The training will be in-house by Sean and one of the new team members will be trained to work alongside Ben in the powder room.
