A special birthday

Today was a special day for one of our Directors and the founder of Ceramic Substrates and Components Ltd., Frederick George Blain “George” celebrated his birthday. Reaching 80 is a challenge in itself, obviously still being involved on a daily basis with the company has kept him young and in good shape. George has been on the forefront of many inventions and processes regarding industrial ceramics not just in the past but still today he can be found in the factory or his office calculating either a new process or improving an existing one. As for me, it is nice that we can still consult in each other when there are questions from customers that are not always straightforward. George has a wealth of knowledge, which he shares not just with me but also the factory staff so that they know what kind of ceramic they are making and what to look out for regarding quality and certain characteristics with the ceramics we produce. As it is George’s 80 birthday, we laid on a large buffet and bbq, the staff had a collection for George, engraved crystal cut Brandy glasses and his favourite tipple, even putting an advertisement in our local paper to mark the occasion. George has done really well with cards, presents and a very nice cake. In his speech, George promised that we are invited to his 90th birthday party.

From all of us at Ceramic Substrates and Components Ltd, thank you George for keeping us all in a job, we are proud to be part of a team that has made great strides in the right direction over the past year and is still one of the leading and innovative manufacturers of ceramics in the United Kingdom.
