We have
all returned to work today following a weekend of festival fun. A number of our workforce attended this
year's festival, with their welly boots at the ready.
This year the organisers had promised to make 2013 festival chaos free after last year's disaster, whereby a month's rain fell the night before the weekend started which caused festival goers and ferries to be stranded before nearing the site and locals having great difficulties and delays in getting around the Newport area.
This year there seemed to be plenty of efficient and friendly staff and extra weather proof surfaces in and out of the fields to aid traffic flow, thus helping to make the festival site rain friendly? Thankfully, the rain that had been forecast held off and although there were a few spits over the weekend nothing that was worth worrying about.
The two main stages saw a weekend of music Headlined by The Happy Mondays, The Stone Roses, The Killers and Bon Jovi, to name but a few, there was also a few new areas which included a beach bar, complete with a stage featuring sand and deckchairs, and a Bohemian wood for world and folk performances.
Mr Giddings, the organiser behind the Isle of Wight festival, is also a Patron of the local music college "Platform One".
Not only did ISLAND musicians have the opportunity to open the bill at this year’s Isle of Wight Festival, thanks to the return of Wight Noize, but also Platform One had a stage at the festival whereby the students and their bands attending the College got to play. Sharon who works in our office has a nephew who attends Platform One and his band "Cubed" got to play at the festival on Sunday.
Steve, one of our Toolmakers won his tickets and thoroughly enjoyed himself.
The Isle of Wight Festival of 2013 was an enjoyable weekend and at tea break today we were all discussing our favourite performance.
