Isle of Wight Festival 2013

We have all returned to work today following a weekend of festival fun.   A number of our workforce attended this year's festival, with their welly boots at the ready.

This year the organisers had promised to make 2013 festival chaos free after last year's disaster,  whereby a month's rain fell the night before the weekend started which caused festival goers and ferries to be stranded before nearing the site and locals having great difficulties and delays in getting around the Newport area.
Ready to Rock

This year there seemed to be plenty of efficient and friendly staff and extra weather proof surfaces in and out of the fields to aid traffic flow, thus helping to make the festival site rain friendly?  Thankfully, the rain that had been forecast held off and although there were a few spits over the weekend nothing that was worth worrying about.

The two main stages saw a weekend of music Headlined by The Happy Mondays, The Stone Roses, The Killers and Bon Jovi, to name but a few, there was also a few new areas which included a beach bar, complete with a stage featuring sand and deckchairs, and a Bohemian wood for world and folk performances.

We are rocking away

Mr Giddings, the organiser behind the Isle of Wight festival, is also a Patron of the local music college "Platform One".
Not only did ISLAND musicians  have the opportunity to open the bill at this year’s Isle of Wight Festival, thanks to the return of Wight Noize, but also Platform One had a stage at the festival whereby the students and their bands attending the College got to play.  Sharon who works in our office has a nephew who attends Platform One and his band "Cubed" got to play at the festival on Sunday.

Steve, one of our Toolmakers won his tickets and thoroughly enjoyed himself.

The Isle of Wight Festival of 2013 was an enjoyable weekend and at tea break today we were all discussing our favourite performance.

Training Day

Arriving at Hurco

Here at Ceramic Substrates we believe that training need analysis is crucial for the success of the business, it is beneficial to both employers and employees. Training is the opportunity of enhancing the skills, capabilities and knowledge of all personnel and it should be viewed as a is continuous process.
Classroom
Recently we installed a new Turning centre with the latest software and at the same time updated software on other machines. Last week two of our Senior CNC Engineers travelled up to Hurco's headquarters in High Wycombe for a day's in depth training. Following the initial tuition the day involved many practical exercises and scenarios in 3D Mold programming. Jon and Ben found the day to be of significant benefit to their skill set.

Back to work

We are back after a glorious bank holiday weekend here on the Isle of Wight.  As usual there was plenty for people to do over the weekend for both the locals and tourist alike.  Although the weekend was full of sunshine it would appear everyone here at Ceramic Substrates has returned to work unscathed from sun burn.

Sean our Production Manager was the first in this morning to fire up the kilns and prepare machinery ready for everyone to start at 7.30am.  The machining centres and lathes are up and running with Jon and Ben planning their work's schedule for the coming weeks.

Chris in full flow working on a tooling job
Chris our Toolmaker with his colleague Steve are discussing the tooling jobs along with the setting of existing tools for continuous batch runs.  Although, our production inspection is completed periodically at pre defined periods throughout the manufacturing process, our final inspection team are already behind their work stations examining finished components before dispatch.
Sharon and Belinda are at their desks sorting through emails, telephone queries and welcome the opportunity to assist with your sales and technical enquiries, connecting you to the relevant person to assist you further.
